"The excitement and the wanting to run toward something wild, even if it can hurt you." - love this line and definitely can relate, especially as someone who has intentionally settled down but still craves chaos from time to time.

Every year I plant parsley which brings the female Eastern Swallowtail butterflies and their eggs, which become caterpillars. I put the caterpillars in a fine mesh habitat with more parsley plants for food, and the caterpillars much away until it’s time for their chrysalis stage. Then weeks, months later we release the new butterflies they’ve become. It’s a ritual I thrive on, but this year I couldn’t manage it. The parsley plants I purchased withered and died in the heat before I could replant them in bigger pots that could hold more water. My sensitive heart, partly brought on by perimenopause, took this very badly. I’ll try again next year.

It seems like you've got a lot going on and I applaud your taking the month of October off as you shift into grad school, but I just want to say that it took me a solid 4 years before my cut flower garden actually succeeded in any real way! So many mistakes! I've learned so much over time and this summer, it's been a complete joy.

Yes yes it seems the gardening is a very slow learning process. I must accept! XO
