After going back into education to do a creative MA my experience was definitely that academic reading (and thinking and writing) takes practice - it’s a really intense engagement with ideas, and it is something that you can practice and build stamina with, and gradually it shifts as you keep doing it, but when you’re diving in for the first time it feels like a massive demand on your brain! You can do it! You’re stretching in a new way! ✨
Congrats on starting school again! I know how you feel about getting back into the school mindset when it comes to reading comprehension tasks!...You are obviously book smart (you lead book studies!); it just to takes the brain a minute to remember those old pathways when it's new again. I second haley p - ask for clarification if you need it. Thanks for sharing the Artist's Way ❤ - I read your posts for each week but was too scared to begin it and doubted if I was the right student for it. But after reading what you've written about it and listening to the book, I see that I'm exactly the right student for this lol... So I am starting it late and will revisit your weekly letters about it. 😊
Ahhh that was my review on Skillshare that you included in this post 😍. I also resonate on not remembering much of what I learn but leaning into how I felt from a worthwhile class or passage from a book. I actually kind of hate that I can't remember because it makes me overthink whether it was that impactful for me. But it helps to know that you also go through this!
