I had an extremely overwhelming morning, parenting a toddler and a baby, taking them to the park and having it fall apart in a mess of tears at the end. I saw your name in the inbox and realized that it’s the only newsletter I feel spiritually energized by after reading (instead of drained). Thank you, seriously. Also this whole essay really applies to parenting. I have two human tomatoes and it’s like what am I even doing, but also, I’m doing it?
love the way you put this. i have my lil rooftop garden and take the same what the hell attitude and it loves me back. i don't think anyone would describe it as the most effective or clean garden but i like that it still grows and is resilient and abundant no matter how much time i can put into it. the garden's always there for me, set up and ready for play and growth <3
Love your work - love the things you said about your garden. Sometimes, I've found, things grow IN SPITE of our clumsiness. Asking for help is cool, but keep the magic and wonder you expressed here. Gardens understand their people.

I love this. That little tomato is the land's way of saying, "Welcome, Marlee! Have something delicious!"
